Cleveland State Cross Country Has Strong Performance At All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action Friday, participating in the All-Ohio Championships.

"I'm very proud of how we performed today, paced by Mia who ran a very gutsy race, putting herself in position early to perform well," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Kiannah also ran a very smart race today, with a strong second half, giving us a total team effort on the course. I'm extremely pleased with our progress so far this season, and looking forward to continuing the hard work."

For the second straight meet freshman Mia Beemsterboer paced the Vikings, finishing 50th overall with a time of 23:30 in her first collegiate 6K race. Among Division I runners only, Beemsterboer notched a top-10 finish on Friday.

Kiannah Sarver was the next Viking to cross the finish line with a time of 23:54 to finish 81st, while Brooke Bechtel finished in a time of 24:02 (85th) and Natalie Keller crossed the line in 24:06 (87th). Both Bechtel and Keller were also competing in their first collegiate 6K races.

Next to finish for the Vikings was the duo of Sage Colòn (101 - 24:18) and Ariana Coats (109 - 24:24), while Ana Crangle (142 - 25:01), Sophia Pomnean (147 - 25:05), Madeline Crissman (193 - 25:54), and Savannah Shaver (227 - 26:26) also represented Cleveland State.

The Vikings will now be off until September 29, when they take part in the Notre Dame Invite.
