Cleveland State Cross Country Opens 2023 Campaign At Wooster Invite

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will begin the 2023 campaign this weekend, taking part in the Wooster Invitational on Friday, September 1. Thursday's 4K race will take place at the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course on the campus of the College of Wooster. 

The Race
Friday's meet will mark the shortest race for the Vikings this season, as they will be opening the year on a 4K course. Friday's meet is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start.

2023 Roster
The Vikings return eight runners that were featured on the roster last year, including the duo of Ariana Coats and Kiannah Sarver who finished in Cleveland State's top-three six times last season. This returning group will be joined by five newcomers for the upcoming 2023 campaign.

2023 Schedule
Friday's race will be the first of six scheduled meets for the Vikings this season. Cleveland State will participate in four regular season meets, before taking part in the Horizon League Championships at the end of October and the NCAA Regionals during the beginning of November. 

Head Coach Jason Hudson
The Vikings will be under the direction of head coach Jason Hudson during the 2023 campaign, as he returns for his sixth season at Cleveland State. Friday's meet will be a return to his alma mater for Hudson, as he was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track & field at Wooster.
