Cleveland State Cross Country Competes At #HLXC Championships

CARMEL, Ind. – The Cleveland State cross country team continued the 2021 campaign Saturday, participating in the Horizon League Championships in Carmel, Ind.

As a team, the Vikings finished 11th, with Cleveland State's highest individual finisher – Emily Nemeth – placing 52nd overall.

Nemeth finished the 6K race in a time of 24:50, marking a career-best for the junior, while this marks the first time this season that she paced the Vikings.

Next to cross the finish line for the Vikings was Kiannah Sarver, who finished 62nd overall in a time of 25:14. Through the first six races of the season, Sarver has been one of Cleveland State's top-two finishers four times.

Hannah Korte and Madelynn Madison were the next Vikings to cross the finish line, Korte in a time of 25:38 and Madison in a time of 26:20. Saturday's race marked the first #HLXC Championship for Madison, while it was the fourth time this season that she was part of Cleveland State's scoring five.

Ariana Coats rounded out the top-five finishers for the Vikings, as she finished her first collegiate 6K race in a time of 26:51. Kaelin Stahl (27:15) and Savannah Shaver (27:21) were the next Vikings to finish, while Sara Timberlake (27:24), Colette Conway (28:05), Anna Umlauf (28:16), and Leanne Eichorn (30:15) also represented Cleveland State at the #HLXC Championships.

Cleveland State's final race of the 2021 campaign will be the NCAA Regionals, which will take place on Friday, November 12 in Evansville, Ind.
