Cleveland State Cross Country Ready For #HLXC Championships

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will return to action at the #HLXC Championships this weekend, set for the 6K league meet on Saturday, October 30.

HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

The women's 6K race is slated to start at 12:00 p.m. at the Northview Church Course in Carmel, Ind. This will mark the second straight season that the #HLXC Championship will be contested at the Northview Church Course.

Vikings At The #HLXC Championship
Cleveland State's best finish at the Horizon League Championship has been fourth place, which the Vikings posted during the 2011 and 2017 campaigns. Individually, Cleveland State's highest finish was by Anna Brandt, when she posted a third place finish at the 2018 championship.

So Far This Season…
The Vikings have posted three top-three team finishes, while Cleveland State has recorded eight top-15 individual finishes through the first five races. CSU's highest finish of the year came at the Tommy Titan Invite when they placed second, while the Vikings earned a pair of third place finishes at the Lansing Invite and Jenna Strong Fall Classic.

…Individually This Season
Hannah Korte posted the team's highest individual finish with a fourth place showing at the Lansing Invite, while Madelynn Madison placed fifth at the Wooster Invite. Out of five races this season, Kiannah Sarver has been Cleveland State's top finisher three times, including a 15th place finish at the Tommy Titan Invite.

The 2021 Schedule
Saturday's race will mark the sixth of seven races for the Vikings this season, and just their second on a 6K course. Cleveland State's lone meet left on the schedule after the #HLXC Championships will be the NCAA Regionals on November 12.
