Cleveland State Cross Country Places Third At Jenna Strong Fall Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action Friday afternoon, placing third at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic. Friday's race marked Cleveland State's third top-three finish of the season, while it was also the final tune-up before the 2021 Horizon League Championships.

"We ran a very solid race today, finishing third as a team, and this was a great tune-up before the conference meet," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We will need to be laser focused over the next two weeks now, and have all hands on deck to meet our goals for the conference meet, and we are ready for the challenge!"

For the third time this season Kiannah Sarver paced the Vikings, as she finished 21st overall with a season-best 5K time of 19:52. Madelynn Madison and Hannah Korte also posted top-25 finishes for the Vikings, Madison with a season-best time of 20:02 (24th) and Korte with a time of 20:07 (25th).

Margaret Smith also posted a season-best time, crossing the finish line in 20:21 to finish 32nd overall.

Emily Nemeth (21:04) and Colette Conway (21:24) were the next Vikings to finish, while Kaelin Stahl posted a season-best time of 21:38, with Savannah Shaver (23:26) and Leanne Eichorn (24:56) also representing the Vikings on Friday.

Next up for Cleveland State will be the 2021 Horizon League Championships, which will take place in Carmel, Ind. on Saturday, October 30.
