Cleveland State Cross Country Places Third At Lansing Invite

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action Friday afternoon, competing in the Lansing Invitational. As a team, the Vikings finished third, while three individuals finished in the top-20.

"We performed very well today, especially considering we were missing some key members of our team," head coach Jason Hudson said. "This is a great sign that others were able to step up when we needed them and perform well on the course. As our top finisher, Hannah ran a great race today, and was engaged throughout the entire race and put herself in a great position early on to finish in the top-five."

Hannah Korte was Cleveland State's top finisher, as she posted a fourth place overall finish with a 5K time of 19:27. Ariana Coats also posted a top-15 finish for the Vikings, as she placed 12th overall crossing the finish line in a time of 20:02

Margaret Smith was the next Viking to finish, posting a 5K time of 20:25 to finish 20th, while Kiannah Sarver placed 24th crossing the finish line in 20:31.

Emily Nemeth rounded out the top-five finishers for the Vikings, posting a time of 20:47, while Savannah Shaver (21:49), Kaelin Stahl (21:55) and Leanne Eichorn (22:48) also represented Cleveland State at the Lansing Invite.

A quartet of Vikings posted personal-best 5K times Friday; Ariana Coats, Margaret Smith, Kaelin Stahl, and Leanne Eichorn.
