Cleveland State Cross Country Paced By Sarver At Tommy Titan Invite

NORTHVILE, Mich. – The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action at the Tommy Titan Invite Saturday morning, with Kiannah Sarver leading the Vikings with a 15th place overall finish.

Sarver crossed the 5K finish line in a time of 19:59, posting her second top-15 finish of the 2021 campaign.

"I'm very happy with our performance today, we ran very well as a group, and ran the second part of the race better than last week which was a goal that we had for today," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We took another step towards our ultimate goal of improving our team finish at the Horizon League Championships and we are definitely moving in the right direction. After running a 4K last week and a 5K this week, we are working our way towards running a 6K next week, which will be another step towards our ultimate goal this season."

As a team, the Vikings finished second in the field, outpacing Horizon League opponent Detroit Mercy who finished third.

Hannah Korte gave the Vikings their second top-20 finish of the day, as she finished 18th overall with a 5K time of 20:13. Margaret Smith rounded out the top-three Cleveland State finishers then, as she placed 24th overall with a 5K time of 20:43.

The trio of Emily Nemeth (20:48), Ariana Coats (20:54) and Madelynn Madison (20:57) finished right after each other to place 26th, 27th and 28th respectively, before Colette Conway crossed the finish line in a time of 21:08.

Kaelin Stahl (22:16) and Sara Timberlake (22:47) were the next two Vikings to finish, while Savannah Shaver (22:52), Zoe Lexovsky (23:36) and Leanne Eichorn (24:26) rounded out the Cleveland State representatives.

Cleveland State will continue the 2021 campaign next weekend, taking part in the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, September 17.
