CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will return to action this weekend, taking part in the Tommy Titan Invitational on Saturday, September 11. Saturday's 5K race is slated for an 11:05 a.m. start.

Saturday's Tommy Titan Invitational is hosted by Detroit Mercy and will take place at Cass Benton Park in Northville, Mich.

The Vikings will be one of six teams competing this weekend, including Horizon League competitors Oakland and the host Titans.

Cleveland State opened the 2021 campaign at the Wooster Invite last week, with four Vikings finishing in the top-10 and six in the top-20.
Viking Debuts | 2021 Race-By-Race Results
Nine runners made their Cleveland State cross country debuts at the Wooster Invite, paced by true freshman Madelynn Madison who finished fifth overall with a 4K time of 15:44. Also making their Viking XC debuts were Kiannah Sarver, Ariana Coats, Margaret Smith, Sara Timberlake, Colette Conway, Kaelin Stahl, Leanne Eichorn, and Kayla Zdanowicz.
Strong Returning Core | 2021 Roster
Cleveland State also featured four returners in the season opener, including Hannah Korte who was the top Viking finisher in both races during the 2021 spring campaign. Korte finished last week's Wooster Invite eighth overall, followed by Emily Nemeth (10th), Zoe Lexovsky (44th) and Savannah Shaver (48th).

Saturday's race will be the second of seven scheduled meets for the Vikings this season, as they transition back to their normal fall lineup. Cleveland State will participate in five regular season meets, before taking part in the 2021 Horizon League Championships at the end of October and the NCAA Regionals during the beginning of November.
