Vikings Compete At #HLXC Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State cross country team returned to action Thursday afternoon, competing at the Horizon League Cross Country Championship.

"We had a perfect day to race today, and overall the team performed really well especially with the quick turnaround from the indoor championships last week," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We competed with a really young lineup today – four sophomores and one freshman – so I'm excited to see the progress of this team over the coming seasons. I'm definitely proud of how the team performed with a two-meet abbreviated season, and now we can continue our momentum into the outdoor track season."

Thursday's 6K #HLXC Championship marked just the second race for the Vikings this season and the first on a 6K course.

Hannah Korte paced the Vikings, finishing the 6K course in a time of 23:37. Emily Nemeth was the next Viking to cross the finish line, posting a career-best time of 24:56.

Savannah Shaver, who was running in her first collegiate 6K race, finished in a time of 26:14.

Also competing for the Vikings on Thursday were Haley Rozeski (27:25) and Zoe Lexovsky (28:56).
