Cross Country Set For Tommy Evans Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2019 campaign at the Tommy Evans Invitational this weekend, participating in the 5K race on Saturday, September 7. Saturday's 5K race is slated for an 11:00 a.m. start at the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio.

The Field
Cleveland State will be one of eight teams at the Tommy Evans Invitational, joining Akron, Baldwin Wallace, Malone, Ohio, Robert Morris, Walsh, and Youngstown State. 

Last Time Out…
The Vikings opened the season at the Queen City Invitational, getting their first look at this year's Horizon League Championship race site. Junior Anna Brandt paced the Vikings finishing 20th overall, while the freshmen duo of Emily Nemeth (54th) and Hannah Korte (58th) rounded out the top three Viking finishers.

Brandt On The Top Performances List
In the season opener last weekend, junior Anna Brandt led the Vikings with a 5K time of 18:32, marking the eighth sub 19-minute 5K of her Cleveland State career. Brandt's time is tied for ninth on the CSU Top Performances list, as she now owns six of the top-10 times. 

Collegiate Debuts
Cleveland State's four freshmen made their collegiate debuts at the Queen City Invitational last time out, as Hannah Korte, Zoe Lexovsky, Emily Nemeth, and Haley Rozeski all competed in the Green & White for the first time. Nemeth was the second Viking to cross the finish line with a time of 19:31, while Korte finished third for CSU in a time of 19:41, and Rozeski (20:25) and Lexovsky (20:27) recorded top-six finishes for the Vikings.

2019 Cleveland State Cross Country Schedule
Saturday's race will mark the second of six races for the Vikings this season, and the second of three races that will be run on 5K courses (Queen City Invitational, Tommy Evans Invitational, Disney Cross Country Classic).
