Butterbaugh & O’Keefe Set Personal-Best Times At All-Ohio Championship

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team participated in their second straight 6K Friday afternoon, finishing 10th in the Division I field at the All-Ohio Championship.

"We ran really well today for the weather conditions – it was windy throughout the entire race and it started raining and sleeting midway through the course – but everyone pushed through and finished the race strong," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "I am so proud of everyone's effort today, despite the conditions, they all did an awesome job, including Samantha and Megan who ran faster than they did last week in near-perfect conditions."

Ashlyn Woods was Cleveland State's top finisher at the All-Ohio Championship, finishing 27th out of all Division I runners with a time of 22:38. Woods' 6K time was just shy of her season-best time that she set last week at the LHU Invitational, but it still ranks third on the CSU top-performances list.

Samantha Butterbaugh was the next Viking to cross the finish line, finishing in 23:13 – a time that breaks her previous personal-best that she set last weekend at the LHU Invitational. Butterbaugh's 6K time also ranks eighth on the CSU top-performances list.

Woods and Butterbaugh also had 5K split times that rank in the top-25 on the top-performances list – Woods tying for third with a split of 18:50 and Butterbuagh tying for 25th with a 5K time of 19:16.

Alanna Shamrock and Megan O'Keefe were the next finishers for CSU – Shamrock finishing in a time of 24:47 and O'Keefe finishing in 23:13, a time that ties her personal-best mark. Marissa Sell crossed the finish line with another sub 26-minute 6K, finishing in 25:44.

The group of Kristin McCarthy (26:03), Emily Marshall (26:21), Sarah Mallow (27:15), and Marissa Ward (27:58) also competed for the Vikings at the All-Ohio Championship.

Cleveland State will return to action next Saturday (October 10), when the team heads south for the Disney World Classic in Orlando, Fla.
