Five Vikings To Compete At Horizon League Track & Field Championship

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will compete in its final track meet of the 2014-15 season this weekend, as five Vikings are set to participate at the 2015 Horizon League Championship. This season's league championship will be hosted by Oakland University, taking place at the Oakland Track & Field Stadium from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3.

Cleveland State will be represented in the 800 Meter Run and the 1500 Meter Run by Megan O'Keefe, Ashley Lydic, Samantha Butterbaugh, Emily Marshall, and Ashlyn Woods.

O'Keefe will be CSU's lone runner in the 800 (prelims scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Saturday), and enters the meet with a seed time of 2:26.34. O'Keefe has recorded three 800 times this season, with her top time of 2:26.34 coming at the All-Ohio Championship.

The top two times in each heat will advance to the 800 Meter Run finals, along with the next two best times. The final is slated for 1:25 p.m. on Sunday.

In the 1500 Meter Run, Woods, Butterbaugh, Lydic, and Marshall will be representing the Vikings, with Woods entering the race with the ninth fastest seed time. Woods has competed in the 1500 three times this season, and notched a season-best time of 4:55.09 at the Ashland Alumni Open last weekend.

Butterbaugh has the 11th best seed time entering the meet this weekend, as she posted a time of 5:01.35 at the All-Ohio Championship. Lydic enters the race with a season-best time of 5:44.15, while Marshall's best time of the season is 5:46.21.

The 1500 will be run as a final only, and is schedule for 12:10 p.m. on Sunday.
