YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Members of the Cleveland State cross country team participated in their first track and field meet of the indoor season Friday and Saturday, competing at the YSU National Invitational.

The Vikings, who were competing as individuals only, were represented in four different races by nine different runners.

Cleveland State's best finish came from Alanna Shamrock in the 1,000 meter run, as she finished 12th overall with a time of 3:18.57. Two other Vikings also ran in the 1,000 meter run - Sarah Mallow (18th - 3:33.34) and Emily Marshall (19th - 3:49.07).

CSU also competed in the 500 meter dash, 1 mile run, and 3,000 meter run - with two competitors in each race.

Kristin McCarthy (23rd - 1:27.34) and Sierra Swigert (28th - 1:33.49) ran in the 500 meter dash, Ashlyn Woods (20th - 5:32.75) and Samantha Butterbaugh (24th - 5:41.95) ran in the 1 mile run, and Marissa Ward (47th - 11:55.16) and Ashley Lydic (50th - 12:55.63) ran in the 3,000 meter run.
