Woods Named Second Team All-Horizon League

KENOSHA, Wis. – Cleveland State cross country sophomore Ashlyn Woods earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors Saturday morning, becoming the first-ever runner to earn all-league accolades under head coach Joe Jaketic. Woods finished the 2014 Horizon League Championships with an eighth place finish, posting a 6K time of 22:17.

Woods' eighth place finish is the best finish for a Viking under Jaketic at the Horizon League Championships, while her 6K time of 22:17 marks a Cleveland State best over the past 10 years.

Throughout the 2014 season, Woods has been Cleveland State's top finisher during six races, and has recorded three top-10 finishes (Friendship Invitational-6th, Carnegie Mellon Invitational-8th, Horizon League Championship-8th).

Both of Woods' 6K times from this season rank in the top-10 on the CSU top-performances list, while she has posted six top-50 5K marks. Included in the 5K times is her split of 18:35 from today's Horizon League Championship – which marks the fastest 5K over the past 10 seasons.

Woods was one of seven runners to earn a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team, joining Lauren Lindholm (UIC), Sydnie Fetherolf (Detroit), Karli Keur (Oakland), Ashley Burr (Oakland), McKinsie Klim (Youngstown State), and Annette Lemanski (Milwaukee).
