KENT, Ohio - Cleveland State posted a spotless 5-0 record en route to claiming the title at the Kent State Spring Tournament held on Saturday (April 2). Playing the best 2-out-of-3 format, the Vikings upended Wittenberg (2-0), Ashland (2-0) and Buffalo (2-1) in pool play, before knocking off Kent State (2-1) in the semifinals and Grand Valley State (2-1) in the championship match.

"Our team chemistry was better than I had anticipated it would be and our leadership was tremendous," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We passed the ball well and it was exciting to see Alisa Hatcher back on the court [after redshirting last season]."

Junior opposite Nickole Kennedy paced CSU with 36 kills and a .397 hitting percentage. Junior outsides Julie Stover and Emily Clark added 24 and 22 kills, respectively.

The Vikings conclude their spring slate with tournaments at Duquesne (April 16) and at Bowling Green (April 23).
