BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Cleveland State volleyball team outlasted Stony Brook Saturday afternoon in the Western New York/Holiday Inn Invitational 30-20, 20-30, 24-30, 30-25, 15-11 for the Viking's ninth straight victory.

CSU, 11-3, is off to its best start since the 1983 squad opened at 14-3.

The Viking's "big guns", senior Michelle Iafigliola (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and sophomore Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) came through as usual against the Seawolves, recording 19 and 14 kills, respectively. However, middle blocker Kristine Dabbelt (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) was nearly unstoppable as the 6-1 senior hit a sizzling .733 with 12 kills and just one error in 15 attempts. In addition, freshman Alisa Hatcher (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) added 10 kills.

Bouyer also contributed with five blocks while freshman Emily Clark (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) tallied a team-high 11 digs.

Stony Brook was led by LaToya Byerly's 18 kills and Alison Fields' match-high 12 digs.

The Vikes hit .294 (71K-24E-160TA) for the match compared to .213 (53K-24E-136TA) for Stony Brook.
