Cleveland State Volleyball Returns Home To Host Green Bay & Milwaukee

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team will return to the friendly confines of Woodling Gymnasium this weekend, hosting a mini two-match homestand on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14. The Vikings will host Green Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

Entering the weekend, Green Bay and Milwaukee are tied for the top spot in the #HLVB standings, while the Vikings sit sixth. 

This weekend will be the Vikings' annual Cancer Awareness matches, with fans encouraged to wear pink, donation opportunities available and a pink rally towel giveaway for the first 150 fans at Friday's match against the Phoenix. 

In addition, Saturday will also be Alumnae Day for the Vikings, with all former Cleveland State volleyball players welcome to attend. 

Entering the fourth weekend of #HLVB play, Cleveland State continues to lead the league averaging 2.57 blocks per set, while the Vikings rank ninth nationally with 185.0 total blocks on the year. 

Individually, three Vikings rank in the top-10 in blocks; Madison Olinger (4th – 1.06), JeriLynn Koehler (6th – 1.04) and Ainslie McLaughlin (9th – 0.92). 

Sophomore Karly Klaer enters Friday's match just one assist shy of 1,500 for her career, currently sitting at 1,499 career helpers. Klaer, who ranks third among #HLVB players with 8.72 assists per set, has tallied 40+ assists in four of the last six matches. 

Liberty Torres has been leading the Viking offense over the last few weeks, entering the weekend with a team-best 221 total kills on the year. Over the last six matches, Torres has been averaging 4.20 kills per set, including 21 kills at Oakland last time out.
