QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will continue its 2023 slate at home this week, hosting the Holiday Inn Cleveland Clinic CSU Invitational. The Vikings will welcome Akron (Wednesday, September 6), Harvard (Friday, September 8) and Bucknell (Saturday, September 9) for the tournament. 

ENTERING THE WEEK...
The Vikings stand at 4-2 on the year…Cleveland State will be trying for its third straight home opening victory…The Vikings are 9-1 in home openers over the last 10 seasons.

Home Court Advantage
Cleveland State's trio of matches this week will mark the first of a 13-match home slate for the Vikings this season, as they will be calling Woodling Gymnasium home once again. In addition to nine #HLVB matches that the Vikings will host this season, they will also play four non-league contests inside Woodling Gymnasium, marking the most home matches since the 2018 campaign.

Torres Picks Up Second All-Tournament Team Honor
Junior Liberty Torres picked up her second All-Tournament honor of the season last weekend, earning a spot on the Miami Invitational All-Tournament Team. Over the weekend, Torres averaged 2.82 kills per set on a .256 hitting percentage, including a season-best 16 kills in the five-set victory against Miami (OH). 

Walker Notches Career-High Against Redhawks
Junior Emma Walker tallied a career-high last time out, notching 33 digs in the five-set victory over Miami (OH). Walker, who leads the team averaging 4.00 digs per set on the season, marked the first 30-dig match of her career with the 33 digs against the Redhawks. Through two weeks of the 2023 season, Walker's 33-dig performance marks an individual match high among #HLVB players. 

Klaer Eclipses 1,000 Career Assists
With a season-high 41 assists against Miami (OH) last weekend sophomore Karly Klaer eclipsed the 1,000-assist mark for her career, entering the week with 1,035 total helpers. Klaer, who ranks fourth among #HLVB players averaging 7.45 assists per set, is also averaging 2.64 digs per set this season, recording three double-doubles on the year. 

Voss Picking Up Where She Left Off
After posting a team-high and CSU Freshman Class Record 389 total kills last season, sophomore Laken Voss is picking up right where she left off, combining for 75 kills through the first two weeks of the season. Voss, who ranks fifth in the Horizon League averaging 3.41 kills per set this season, has recorded double-digit kills in four of the first six matches, including a season-high 17 kills at Miami (OH) last weekend.

Olinger On The Block
Entering the third week of the 2023 season, Madison Olinger leads the Horizon League averaging 1.27 blocks per set. Through the first six matches Olinger has posted three or more blocks five times, including a league-best 10 total blocks against Murray State in the season opener. For her career, Olinger now has 155 total blocks.

Vikings Tabbed Fifth In #HLVB Preseason Poll
Prior to the 2023 campaign starting, the Vikings were tabbed to finish fifth in the #HLVB Preseason Poll, earning 66 votes. Cleveland State finished behind league favorite Wright State, Northern Kentucky, Green Bay, and Milwaukee.

Head Coach Chuck Voss
Chuck Voss is in his 24th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 397-281 (.585) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009 to 2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and is closing in on becoming the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 400-win mark at their current school.
