INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State volleyball team to the Leatherneck Classic title last weekend, junior Liberty Torres has been named a Horizon League Under Armour Player of the Week. This marks the first weekly honor for Torres during her Viking career.  

Last time out, Torres and the Vikings posted a 3-0 record at the Leatherneck Classic, picking up wins against Murray State, Western Illinois and Tennessee State. This marked the seventh time under head coach Chuck Voss that the Vikings opened the season with a 3-0 record, and the first since 2018.

Torres was named the Leatherneck Classic MVP after averaging 2.27 kills per set on a .328 hitting percentage for the weekend. 

Torres recorded her first double-digit kill effort of the season with 10 kills in the opener against Murray State, while she followed that up with seven kills on a .438 clip (7-0-16) against Western Illinois and eight kills (.429, 8-2-14) against Tennessee State.

In addition, Torres also added eight digs and two blocks on the weekend.
