Voss Named #HLVB Freshman of the Year; Klaer, Latimer & Olinger Also Earn Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following the 2022 volleyball regular season, the Horizon League has announced its postseason honors, with Cleveland State's Laken Voss earning #HLVB Freshman of the Year accolades, while Karly Klaer, Lydia Latimer and Madison Olinger also picked up postseason honors.

In addition to being named the Freshman of the Year, Voss also earned a spot on the All-League Second Team and All-Freshman Team, while Latimer joined her on the All-League Second Team, and Klaer and Olinger joined her on the All-Freshman Team. 

LAKEN VOSS | OH | FR | FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Voss was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year after finishing regular season play with a team-best 359 kills. Voss, who is one of just four #HLVB players with 350+ kills on the year, currently ranks fourth averaging 3.39 kills per set. Through 28 matches played, Voss has tallied 10+ kills 24 times, including a trio of 20-kill performances. 

As a six-rotation player, Voss has also posted 255 digs on the year, averaging 2.41 digs per set. Voss has tallied 11 double-doubles on the year, while also combining for 51 total blocks and 27 service aces.

Voss is the sixth Viking to be named the #HLVB Freshman of the Year – and the first since 2016 – while she is the 31st Viking all-time to earn All-League honors. 

LYDIA LATIMER | MH | SR | ALL-LEAGUE SECOND TEAM
Latimer earned a spot on the All-League Second Team after spending the 2022 campaign as an integral part of the Viking front row. Through regular season play, Latimer has 204 kills and a team-best 116 total blocks, while also notching 25 service aces.  

Latimer's 116 blocks so far this season ranks her second among Horizon League players averaging 1.17 blocks per set, while she ranks 10th in the #HLVB standings with a .265 hitting percentage on the year. Latimer has tallied 10+ kills in 10 matches this season, while she has recorded five or more blocks on 10 occasions. 

Latimer is the 32nd Viking all-time to earn All-League honors.

KARLY KLAER | S | FR | ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM
Klaer was named to the All-Freshman Team after serving as Cleveland State's primary setter for the majority of the 2022 campaign. Since stepping into the lineup during the second week of the season, Klaer has been averaging 8.08 assists per set, a mark that ranks her fourth among #HLVB players.  

Through 26 matches played, Klaer has tallied a team-best 15 double-doubles on the year, also averaging 2.62 digs per set. In addition, Klaer has also made her presence felt in the front row, combining for 127 kills and 53 total blocks on the year.

Klaer is the 22nd Viking all-time to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

MADISON OLINGER | MH | R-FR | ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM
Olinger earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team after being an integral part of the Viking front row through regular season play. Olinger has been Cleveland State's most efficient offensive player this year, notching 134 kills on a .301 hitting percentage. 

In addition, Olinger has also been one of Cleveland State's best blockers, combining for 114 total blocks on the year. Averaging 1.13 blocks per set, Olinger ranks fifth among league players, and has notched 5+ blocks during 11 matches so far this season.

Olinger is the 23rd Viking all-time to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
