Cleveland State Volleyball Earns 3-0 Victory Over Green Bay

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Green Bay on Friday evening, opening its final weekend in Woodling Gymnasium with a win.

Laken Voss led the Viking offense with 11 kills, while Karly Klaer finished with seven and Lydia Latimer and Madalynn Butler both recorded six kills.

Emma Walker led the Viking defense with 17 digs, while Audrey McConihe and Klaer both notched 15. Voss chipped in 12 digs, while Sarah DeGeorge added 10 for five Vikings in double-digit digs.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 10.0 total blocks on the match, including seven from Madison Olinger and four from Butler.

During the opening set, the Vikings were able to get out to a 13-8 lead following three straight points on a Klaer service ace and a pair of kills from Butler and Liberty Torres. The Vikings then controlled play throughout the rest of the frame, closing out the 25-18 victory with another Butler kill.

The second set was much of the same, as Cleveland State earned a 12-5 advantage midway through the set following back-to-back kills from Lydia Latimer and Torres. The Vikings then extended their lead to double-digits at the 20-10 mark following a Voss kill, before closing out the frame with a Butler kill.

During the third set, the Vikings had to overcome an early deficit, regaining control of the frame with a 4-0 run to earn a 16-11 advantage on a Walker ace. The Vikings were then able to hold off the Phoenix throughout the rest of the set, once again closing out the frame with a Butler kill.
