CLEVELAND STATE PDF MATCH NOTES

QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will hit the road for a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to Milwaukee on Friday, October 7 and Green Bay on Saturday, October 8. The Vikings will be looking to remain perfect in the month of October, entering this weekend's roadswing with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-2 mark in #HLVB play.

LAST TIME OUT…
Cleveland State picked up back-to-back victories against Robert Morris and Oakland, improving to 3-2 in #HLVB play this season. The Vikings earned a 3-0 sweep against the Golden Grizzlies at Woodling Gymnasium last weekend, marking the first straight-set victory for Cleveland State this season.

CLEVELAND STATE FROM THE SERVICE LINE
Last time out, the Vikings combined for 12 service aces against Oakland, marking the second match with 10+ aces this season. For the year, Cleveland State is averaging 1.49 service aces per set, paced by Sarah DeGeorge who has tallied 23 aces on the year, including five against the Grizzlies last weekend. In addition, Laken Voss has recorded 17, while Emma Walker has tallied 15 and Audrey McConihe has chipped in 14.

VIKING BLOCK PARTY
Entering Friday's match at Milwaukee the Vikings have posted 10.0+ team blocks in nine matches so far this season, including a stretch of five straight between September 9 and September 20. Cleveland State currently ranks second in the league standings averaging 2.43 blocks per set, combining for 158.0 total blocks on the year. Individually, Madison Olinger leads the Vikings with 65 blocks on the year, while Lydia Latimer has posted 61 to rank second among league players averaging 1.20 blocks per set.

McCONIHE REACHES 1,000-DIG MILESTONE
Earlier this season, senior Audrey McConihe recorded the 1,000th dig of her career, and enters the weekend with a team-best 1,044 total digs. McConihe reached the milestone with a six-dig effort against Wright State (9/23), becoming the 21st Viking all-time to join the 1,000-dig club. For the season, McConihe is averaging a team-best 4.05 digs per set, and has tallied six 20-dig performances on the year. 

VOSS LEADING THE VIKING OFFENSE
After notching a team-best 13 kills against Oakland last time out, freshman Laken Voss continues to lead the Viking offense, entering the weekend with a team-high 196 total kills on the year. Voss, who ranks fourth among #HLVB players averaging 3.38 kills per set, has tallied double-digit kills in 12 matches so far this season, including a season-best 24 kills at Akron earlier this year.

KLAER WITH THE ASSIST
Over the last 13 matches freshman Karly Klaer has moved into the primary setter role for the Vikings due to injuries, averaging 7.65 assists per set to rank fourth among #HLVB players. Through 13 matches, Klaer has posted seven double-doubles, including a season-best 41 assists and 13 digs against the Penguins in the #HLVB opener. In addition, Klaer is also averaging 1.20 kills per set and has combined for 31 total blocks.

WALKER MOVES INTO LIBERO POSITION
Last time out, sophomore Emma Walker served as Cleveland State's libero against Oakland, finishing with 18 digs in her first outing as libero this season. Walker, who is averaging 2.22 digs per set, recorded her seventh double-digit dig match with her 18-dig performance against the Grizzlies. 

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 385-272 (.585) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009 to 2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then later became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.
