QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will continue its non-league slate with a trio of matches this week as part of the Akron Invitational. The Vikings will travel to Akron on Thursday, September 8, before welcoming Morgan State (Friday, September 9) and Valparaiso (Saturday, September 10) to Woodling Gymnasium to open a 12-match home schedule.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Cleveland State's matches against Morgan State and Valparaiso will mark the first of a 12-match home slate for the Vikings this season, as they will be calling Woodling Gymnasium home once again. In addition to nine #HLVB matches that the Vikings will host this season, they will also play a trio of non-league contests at Woodling Gymnasium, marking the most home matches since the 2018 campaign.

OLINGER & VOSS NAMED TO LEHIGH INVITE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Last time out, the Viking duo of Madison Olinger and Laken Voss was named to the Lehigh Invite All-Tournament Team, becoming the second and third Vikings to earn a spot on an all-tournament team this season. Olinger averaged 1.70 kills per set on a .483 hitting percentage on the weekend, while also posting a team-best nine total blocks. Voss averaged 2.30 kills and 1.90 digs per set, including 15 kills against Lehigh.

VIKING BLOCK PARTY
Through the first two weeks of the season, Cleveland State has been one of the better blocking teams in the Horizon League, averaging 2.04 blocks per set. So far this year, the Vikings have combined for 10.0+ total blocks in three matches - Xavier (15.0), UAB (11.0) and Rider (10.0). Individually, Madison Olinger leads the Vikings with 19 blocks on the year, while Madalynn Butler has posted 16 and Ainslie McLaughlin has notched 15.

MILLER CLOSING IN ON 1,500 ASSISTS
Entering the week, sophomore Abby Miller is just 25 assists shy of reaching the 1,500-assist mark, currently owning 1,475 helpers. Through the first part of the season, Miller is averaging 8.07 assists per set, and currently ranks third among #HLVB players in the category. In addition, Miller is also just shy of earning a spot in the CSU Career Record Book, needing 54 assists to be tied for tenth on the list.

KLAER MAKES VIKING DEBUT
Last weekend, freshman Karly Klaer made her Viking debut at the Lehigh Invitational, stepping into the lineup during the first match of the weekend and continuing on as Cleveland State's primary setter for the rest of the tournament. Through the three matches, Klaer averaged 5.42 assists per set, combining for 65 total helpers. Klaer notched back-to-back double-doubles in her first two collegiate appearances, finishing with 25 assists and 14 digs against Lehigh and posting 25 assists and 12 digs against Rider.

McCONIHE NAMED TO BUFFALO INVITE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
During the first week of the 2022 campaign, libero Audrey McConihe was named to the Buffalo Invite All-Tournament Team after averaging 4.86 digs per set on the weekend. McConihe tallied double-digit digs in all three matches, including a career-high 37-dig performance against Xavier in the season opener. This marked McConihe's second All-Tournament Team accolade of her career.

…AND TRACKING DOWN 1,000 DIGS
Entering the third week of the season Audrey McConihe is on track to record 1,000 career digs, as she currently stands at 899 total digs. After the first two weeks of play, McConihe ranks fifth among #HLVB players averaging 4.54 digs per set, and will be looking for back-to-back 350+ dig seasons after finishing with 376 last year.

THE 2022 LINEUP

In addition, the Vikings return three juniors and five sophomores, while five true freshmen will be joining Cleveland State for the upcoming campaign.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 380-267 (.587) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009 to 2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then later became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.
