QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will open the 2022 season this weekend, traveling to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Buffalo Invitational. This will mark the first three matches of an 11-match non-league schedule, as the Vikings are set to face Xavier (Friday, August 26), UAB (Saturday, August 27) and Buffalo (Saturday, August 27). 

ENTERING THE WEEK…
The Vikings will be kicking off their 51st season of volleyball, and 23rd under head coach Chuck Voss…Cleveland State will be trying to win its seventh season-opening tournament title under Voss…The Vikings will be trying for their seventh 3-0 start to a season under Voss. 

CSU IN SEASON-OPENING TOURNAMENTS
Since the 2000 season when Chuck Voss took over the Cleveland State volleyball program, the Vikings have posted a 40-22 record in season-opening tournaments, including a 26-13 record over the last 12 years. Under Voss, the Vikings have captured six tournament titles during the first weekend of action – most recently claiming the CSU Invitational crown during the 2018 campaign. 

THE 2022 LINEUP
This year's Viking lineup features 13 returners, including the senior group of Peyton Bloomer, Sarah DeGeorge, Sarah Green, Lydia Latimer, and Audrey McConihe. In addition, the Vikings return three juniors and five sophomores, while five true freshmen will be joining Cleveland State for the upcoming campaign. 

MILLER CLOSING IN ON 1,500 ASSISTS
After eclipsing the 1,000-assist mark last season, junior Abby Miller enters the season just shy of the 1,500-assist mark for her career, needing 146 helpers to reach the milestone. Last year, Miller averaged 8.20 assists per set as Cleveland State's primary setter, ranking in the top half of Horizon League players.  

McCONIHE TRACKING DOWN 1,000 DIGS
Entering her final season as a Viking, Audrey McConihe is on track to record 1,000 career digs, as she enters her senior season with 781 total digs. Last year, McConihe led the Vikings averaging 3.55 digs per set, and will be looking for back-to-back 350+ dig seasons for the first time in her career. 

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 379-262 (.591) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009-2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance.
