Cleveland State Volleyball Has Two Named To #HLVB All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2021 Volleyball All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon, with the Cleveland State duo of Peyton Bloomer and Audrey McConihe both being recognized. 

Bloomer and McConihe are both earning All-Academic honors for their first time in their careers. 

The junior duo has earned a spot on the Cleveland State Dean's List every semester of their collegiate careers – Bloomer owning a 3.9 cumulative GPA in health sciences/pre-occupational therapy, and McConihe owning a 3.98 cumulative GPA in special education.   

On the court, Bloomer finished the 2021 campaign averaging a team-best 2.60 kills per set, while also posting 29 total blocks on the year. This season, Bloomer finished with double-digit kills 13 times, including a career-high 17 kills against Morehead State and Purdue Fort Wayne. 

McConihe appeared in every set for the Vikings this season, spending the majority of the year playing as Cleveland State's Libero. McConihe finished the season with 376 total digs, averaging a team-best 3.55 digs per set. Through 29 total matches, McConihe tallied double-digit kills 19 times, including six 20-dig performances.

This marks the second straight year that two Vikings have earned All-Academic honors from the Horizon League.
