BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN
This week's matches will mark the 14th, 15th and 16th road matches of the season for the Vikings, as they started the 2021 campaign by playing their first 13 matches away from home. During the first five weeks of the season Cleveland State traveled to six different states and covered over 3,400 miles, before playing at home for the first time this season on September 28.

MILLER NOTCHES 1,000 CAREER ASSISTS
After combining for 101 assists in the three matches last week, sophomore Abby Miller eclipsed the 1,000 assist mark for her career, entering Tuesday's contest at Purdue Fort Wayne with 1,035 career helpers. Miller, who has posted 40+ assists three times this season, ranks fifth among league players averaging 8.07 assists per set. As a freshman, Miller posted 567 total assists during the shortened 2021 spring campaign, and has recorded 468 helpers through 18 matches as a sophomore this year.

CLEVELAND STATE FROM THE SERVICE LINE
After the first seven #HLVB matches of the season Cleveland State continues to be one of the top serving teams in the league, as the Vikings rank third averaging 1.77 service aces in league play only. Entering the week, eight Vikings have recorded at least one service ace in league play, including Abby Miller who has posted 10 total aces against league opponents so far this year.

PORTIS ON THE OFFENSE
After the first three weeks of Horizon League play, senior London Portis continues to be one of the top offensive players in the league, owning a .333 hitting percentage in #HLVB matches only. So far this season, Portis has notched a .300 clip or higher in four matches, including a career-high .667 hitting percentage against Youngstown State (16-0-24).

McCONIHE LEADING THE VIKING DEFENSE
Junior libero Audrey McConihe continues to lead the Viking defense, entering the week averaging 3.67 digs per set on the season. Through seven #HLVB matches, McConihe has posted double-digit digs five times, including a pair of 22-dig performances against IUPUI and Milwaukee. In league games only, McConihe ranks ninth in the #HLVB standings averaging 3.85 digs per set.

CLEVELAND STATE OPENS #HLVB PLAY 4-0
Earlier this season the Vikings opened the #HLVB portion of their schedule with four straight wins, marking just the third time under head coach Chuck Voss that Cleveland State has opened league play with a 4-0 record (2015, 2018). During this stretch the Vikings picked up wins against Robert Morris, Youngstown State, IUPUI, and Oakland, becoming one of just two league teams to earn wins in their first four #HLVB matches of the season (Milwaukee).

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM HONORS
Through non-league play Cleveland State had three players earn All-Tournament Team recognition; London Portis (Baltimore Invitational), Audrey McConihe (Eagle Challenge) and Ainslie McLaughlin (Colgate Invitational). All three Vikings were named to an All-Tournament Team for the first time in their collegiate careers.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 22nd season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 377-253 (.598) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009 to 2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then later became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.

UP NEXT
Cleveland State will return to Woodling Gymnasium for a pair of matches next week, hosting Youngstown State on Saturday, October 23 and Robert Morris on Sunday, October 24.
