Cleveland State Volleyball Wraps Up Non-League Play With Two Matches At Evansville Invite

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team closed out its 11-match non-league slate Friday, dropping a pair of matches against Murray State and Evansville at the Evansville Invitational.

Cleveland State will now turn to Horizon League play, with the first of 18 #HLVB matches coming at Robert Morris (Friday, September 24) and Youngstown State (Saturday, September 25) next weekend.

The Vikings, who were playing with a shorthanded lineup, were making their fourth straight roadtrip of the season, as they will play their first 13 matches away from the friendly confines of Woodling Gymnasium.

In the first match of the day against Murray State, Erica Kostelac finished with a team-high nine kills, while London Portis and Sam Snow both recorded six kills. Audrey McConihe posted a team-best nine digs, while Portis, Chelsea Penfield and Ainslie McLaughlin all recorded two blocks each.

Against Evansville, Peyton Bloomer and Portis both finished with five kills while McConihe recorded six digs, and McLaughlin and Madalynn Butler each finished with three total blocks.
