Cleveland State Volleyball Opens Play At Colgate Invitational

HAMILTON, NY – The Cleveland State volleyball team opened play at the Colgate Invitational Friday, dropping a pair of matches against Princeton and Hofstra.

Princeton 3, Cleveland State 1 
During the opening match, the Viking offense was led by London Portis who notched 11 kills, while Peyton Bloomer and Ainslie McLaughlin both added nine kills and Liberty Torres chipped in eight. Abby Miller finished with 37 assists on the match, as the Vikings combined for a .250 hitting percentage. 

As a team, Cleveland State recorded six service aces, including two from Keanna Avery and Sarah DeGeorge.  

Defensively, Audrey McConihe tallied a career-high 25 digs, while Miller added 11 digs for her second double-double of the season. The Vikings posted 9.0 total blocks as a team, with McLaughlin posting five and Portis notching four. 

Hofstra 3, Cleveland State 0
In the second match of the day, Chelsea Penfield posted a team-high nine kills, while Peyton Bloomer added six and Liberty Torres posted five. Penfield's nine kills came on an .818 hitting percentage (9-0-11), marking a career-high for the junior.

Audrey McConihe led the Viking defense with 12 digs on the match, while Keanna Avery added nine.

The Vikings combined for seven service aces against Hofstra, including four from Penfield.
