Volleyball Picks Up 3-0 Sweep Over Robert Morris

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team opened up its two-match series against Robert Morris on Monday, picking up a 3-0 sweep against the Colonials to improve to 6-5 on the year.

Match Stats
· Peyton Bloomer posted a team-high 13 kills on the match, while Emily DeGeorge added 12 and Hannah Greene posted 11.
· Abby Miller recorded 43 assists on Cleveland State's 51 kills as the Vikings posted a .350 hitting percentage.
· Caroline Kucia and Emily DeGeorge both recorded 14 digs on the match, while Abby Miller added 12.
· Hannah Greene finished with a team-best four total blocks.

Match Notes
· Monday's match marked the first contest between the two teams as Horizon League opponents.
· With her 14 digs against Robert Morris, Emily DeGeorge moved into fifth place in the CSU Career Record Book with 1,244 digs.
· After posting 43 assists and 12 digs on the night, Abby Miller recorded her team-leading fifth double-double of the year.
· Hannah Greene has now posted double-digit kills in each of the last five matches.

The Match
During the opening set, both teams traded points throughout the first part of the frame, until three straight points from the Vikings gave CSU a 14-10 lead following a London Portis kill. The Vikings were then able to hold at least a two-point lead for the remainder of the set, and posted four of the final five points to pick up the 25-20 first set victory on a Chelsea Penfield kill.

The second set was much of the same, as both teams traded points until the midway mark, when Cleveland State gained a 14-8 advantage on three straight points from a trio of Bloomer and Hannah Greene kills. The Vikings were then able to hold a sizeable lead for the remainder of the frame, posting the final three points of the set on two more Greene and Bloomer kills, along with a Greene block to pick up the 25-15 second set victory.

During the third and final frame the Vikings were able to jump out to a 10-5 lead following a 4-0 Viking run that ended with back-to-back kills from Greene and Emily DeGeorge. Cleveland State then controlled play throughout the remainder of the set, until back-to-back DeGeorge kills closed out the 25-14 third set victory to give Cleveland State the 3-0 match sweep.
