Grecol Moves Up Career Assist List As Vikings Fall To NKU

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team opened its final homestand of the 2019 season Friday evening, dropping a 3-1 contest to Northern Kentucky.

With her 33 total assists against Northern Kentucky, sophomore Christina Grecol moved into seventh place in the CSU Career Record Book, ending the match with 2,052 career helpers. Grecol became one of eight Vikings all-time to eclipse the 2,000-assist mark earlier this season, and is the lone active Viking to rank in the career record book.

Offensively, three Vikings finished the match with double-digit kills, led by Trinniti Hall who finished with 13. Chelsea Penfield finished the match with 11 kills, and Peyton Bloomer added a career-high tying 10.

Christina Grecol recorded 33 assists on the match, while Katie Jorn added nine.

Defensively, Emily DeGeorge posted a team-high 17 digs, while Audrey McConihe added 13 and Trinniti Hall chipped in 11.

Hall finished the match with her eighth double-double of the season, with 13 kills and 11 digs.

As a team, the Vikings posted 11 total blocks, marking the 13th time that they have notched 10 or more total blocks during a match this season. Individually, Hannah Greene combined for seven total blocks, while Penfield added four and Hall added three.

With her six block assists, Greene now has 271 block assists on her career, and is just four blocks shy of moving into the top-10 in the CSU Career Record Book.
