CLEVELAND STATE MATCH NOTES

QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will split its time at home and on the road to continue Horizon League play this week, hosting Wright State on Wednesday, November 6 in a midweek matchup, before hitting the road to face UIC on Sunday, November 10.

VIKINGS IN NOVEMBER
Following the pair of 3-0 sweeps at Youngstown State and Oakland last time out, the Vikings now own a perfect 2-0 record during the month of November. Over the last five seasons, the Vikings own a 19-7 record during the month of November.

GRECOL MOVES UP CSU CAREER ASSIST TOP-10 LIST
After averaging 11.16 assists per set in the two wins over Youngstown State and Oakland last weekend, sophomore Christina Grecol moved into eighth place in the CSU Career Record Book with 1,952 career helpers. Grecol, who is one of just nine Vikings all-time to eclipse the 1,900-assist mark, currently ranks second among league players averaging 9.78 assists per set this season. Grecol now needs 48 more assists to reach the 2,000-assist milestone, and 93 more assists to move into seventh place on the list.

…DeGEORGE CLOSING IN ON CSU CAREER DIGS LIST
Entering this week's matches against Wright State and UIC, junior Emily DeGeorge is just shy of earning a spot on the top-10 digs list, currently standing at 1,056 after notching her 1,000th career dig against Youngstown State (10/18) earlier this season. DeGeorge, who is averaging 3.30 digs per set this season, needs 51 more digs to move into 10th place on the list, and would join Christina Grecol as the only two active Vikings to be ranked in the CSU Career Record Book.

GREENE NOTCHES 300 CAREER BLOCKS
Last time out, junior Hannah Greene eclipsed the 300-block mark for her career, ending the weekend with 303 total blocks. Greene, who ranks sixth in the Horizon League with 1.07 blocks per set this season, is the first active Viking to reach the 300-block plateau. On the year, Greene has posted three or more blocks in all but five matches, including a season-high 11 blocks against Milwaukee (10/4).

…CLEVELAND STATE BLOCK PARTY
As a team, the Vikings rank third in the #HLVB standings averaging 2.45 blocks per set, and have recorded double-digit blocks as a team during 12 matches this year. Hannah Greene (1.07 bps) and Trinniti Hall (1.07 bps) have been Cleveland State's primary blockers this season, while Chelsea Penfield has made an immediate impact for the Vikings since joining the lineup last month, combining for 27 total blocks over just five matches.

HALL ON THE OFFENSIVE END
Following a 14-kill performance at YSU and a 10-kill effort at Oakland last weekend, senior Trinniti Hall eclipsed the 300-kill mark for the season, entering the week with 305 total kills. Hall, who ranks third among league players averaging 3.43 kills per set, has tallied double-digit kills in 20 of 23 matches so far this season, and has 889 total kills on her career.

…AND ON THE DEFENSIVE END
Over the last few weeks Trinniti Hall has had to move into a new role following an adjustment to the Viking lineup, and is now an integral part of the Viking defense. Throughout the last six matches, Hall is averaging 3.00 digs per set, and has tallied 10+ digs during three of the six contests. For the year, Hall is averaging 1.54 digs per set to go along with a team-high 3.43 kills per set and a team-best 1.07 blocks per set.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 20th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 361-231 (.609) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 16 winning seasons, including 10 straight entering the 2019 season. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then last season became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.

UP NEXT
The Vikings will close out the regular season at home next week, hosting Northern Kentucky on Friday, November 15 and IUPUI on Saturday, November 16.
