CLEVELAND STATE MATCH NOTES

QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will close out its current three-match homestand this weekend, hosting Youngstown State at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18 and Oakland at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19.

VIKING VOLLEY FOR THE CURE
Friday's match against Youngstown State will be Cleveland State's annual 'Volley For The Cure' match, as the Vikings will join forces with the CSU Campus Activities Board, CSU Health and Wellness and Delta Zeta Sorority in the fight against Cancer. The Vikings will be wearing special edition pink jerseys and will be raising funds for the fight against cancer with a silent auction on the game-worn pink jerseys. All fans are encouraged to wear pink!

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
This weekend's matches against UIC will be part of a 10-match home slate for the Vikings during the 2019 campaign, and will also close out their current three-match homestand. Over the last five seasons, Cleveland State has enjoyed playing on its home court, as the Vikings own a 45-10 record in Woodling Gym during this span. Under head coach Chuck Voss, the Vikings stand at 154-75 when playing at home.

VIKINGS FACE TOUGH NON-LEAGUE SCHEDULE
Throughout the first part of the 2019 campaign, Cleveland State faced one of its hardest non-league schedules in recent years. The Vikings went up against a pair of top-15 teams, two teams that were receiving votes in the top-25 poll, six teams that made a postseason appearance last year, and five teams that recorded 20+ wins during the 2018 campaign.

DeGEORGE CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER DIGS
Entering this weekend's matches, Emily DeGeorge is closing in on the 1,000-dig mark for her career, standing at 982 after the first seven weeks of the season. DeGeorge, who set a CSU freshman class record with 325 digs as a rookie, is averaging 3.28 digs per set this year and has posted a pair of 20-dig performances. DeGeorge would become the 20th Viking to reach the 1,000-dig plateau, and would make 2019 the fifth straight year that a Viking has joined the 1K dig club.

HALL & GREENE ON THE ATTACK
So far this season, the majority of Cleveland State's offense has run through the middle hitter duo of Trinniti Hall and Hannah Greene, as they are responsible for 432 total kills -  52-percent of the CSU offense. Hall has a team-best 223 kills this year, while Greene eclipsed the 200-kill mark last time out, entering the weekend with 209 total kills. Hall (3rd - 3.33) and Greene (5th - 3.12) both rank in the top-five among league players in kills per set, while they also rank in the top-10 in hitting percentage.

GRECOL ON THE CSU CAREER ASSIST TOP-10 LIST
Sophomore Christina Grecol eclipsed the 1,700-assist mark for her career after combining for 58 helpers last weekend, entering Friday's match against Youngstown State with 1,739 career assists. Grecol currently ranks ninth in the CSU Career Record Book, and needs 203 more helpers to move into eighth place on the list. Grecol, who ranks third among league players averaging 9.82 assists per set this season, is one of just nine Vikings all-time to reach 1,700 career assists.

TOUT LEADING THE VIKING DEFENSE
Entering this weekend's matches, Cleveland State ranks second in the #HLVB standings averaging 17.64 digs per set as a team, led by libero Lindsey Tout who ranks fifth individually with a 4.55 digs per set average. Tout is joined on the backline by junior Emily DeGeorge (3.28 dps) and freshman Audrey McConihe (2.57 dps), along with Julia Piccolino (1.85 dps) and Halle Schoen (1.54 dps).

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 20th season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 359-227 (.612) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 16 winning seasons, including 10 straight entering the 2019 season. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then last season became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.

UP NEXT
The Vikings begin a four-match roadswing next weekend, traveling to Green Bay (Friday, October 25) and Milwaukee (Saturday, October 26) to start the second half of Horizon League play.
