The Vikings were then able to carry their momentum into the third set, as they got out to an early 5-2 lead following a Lydia Latimer kill. The Jaguars were able to notch the first three points of the final frame, forcing a Cleveland State timeout with a 3-0 lead. Out of the timeout, IUPUI was able to tack on another point for the 4-0 advantage, but the Vikings were finally able to get on the board following a Jaguar error.

The two teams then traded points over the next two plays, with Hall bringing the Vikings within three points at 5-2 following a solo block.

Over the next few plays both teams traded points until the Vikings were able to notch back-to-back points on an IUPUI error and Greene and DeGeorge block, closing the gap to 8-6.

Despite the run from the Vikings, the Jaguars then extended their advantage with a 4-0 run of their own, and closed out the frame to capture the five-set victory over the Vikings in the Horizon League opener.
