BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team closed out the second weekend of the 2019 campaign Saturday, dropping a 3-1 decision at Bowling Green in the finale of the Hampton Inn Bowling Green Invitational.
All-Tournament Team
The middle hitter duo of Trinniti Hall and Hannah Greene were named to the Hampton Inn Bowling Green All-Tournament Team, after leading the Viking offense with 105 combined kills on the weekend. Hall posted 54 total kills to average 4.50 kills per set, while Greene recorded 51 kills (4.25/set) on the weekend. This duo also led Cleveland State's blocking efforts, Greene with 15 total blocks and Hall with nine combined blocks.

Hannah Greene led the Viking offense against the Falcons, finishing with a career-high 19 kills, while Trinniti Hall added 12 kills.
Defensively, Emily DeGeorge led the Vikings with 21 digs, while Lindsey Tout posted a career-high 20 digs and Audrey McConihe posted 19.
As a team, the Vikings recorded nine service aces against the Falcons, including four from Hall and three from Julia Piccolino.
The two teams traded points throughout the first part of the opening set, until Bowling Green was able to gain an 18-14 advantage to force a Cleveland State timeout. Although the Vikings were able to close the gap to just two points late in the frame following a pair of Greene kills, BG was able to close out the frame for the 25-21 first set victory.
Despite trailing by double-digits at the 22-11 mark during the second set, the Vikings bounced back with a 7-2 run over the next nine points, including a string of three straight kills from Greene during this span. The Vikings were able to fend off two set points, but the Falcons eventually closed out the frame for the 2-0 match advantage.
The Vikings were able to rebound during the third set then, as they battled back after trailing early to gain a 17-15 advantage following a 4-0 run. All four points during this stretch came off of kills – two from Greene, and one from DeGeorge and Keanna Avery. Cleveland State went on to hold the advantage for the remainder of the frame then, as they picked up a 25-21 win during the third set on back-to-back DeGeorge kills.
During the fourth set the two teams traded points until the midway mark, when Bowling Green gained a six-point lead at 21-15 – an advantage that the Falcons would go on to hold for the rest of the set – claiming the 25-21 fourth set victory for the 3-1 match win.
