Volleyball Sweeps Horizon League Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After picking up a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Valparaiso and Northern Kentucky last weekend, the Cleveland State volleyball team has swept the Horizon League weekly awards, as Gina Kilner has been named the Offensive Player of the Week and Shannon Grega has been tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second weekly accolade for Kilner this season, and the first of Grega's career.

Last time out, Kilner and Grega helped Cleveland State extend its winstreak to 11 straight matches, picking up back-to-back 3-0 wins over Valparaiso and Northern Kentucky. With the two wins, the Vikings notched their seventh 20-win season under head coach Chuck Voss, and held onto their first-place ranking in the Horizon League standings.

Throughout the two matches, Kilner averaged 13.17 assists per set to guide the Viking offense, recording 44 assists against Valparaiso and 35 against Northern Kentucky. Kilner helped the Cleveland State offense notch a .219 hitting percentage on the weekend, as the Vikings continue to lead the Horizon League with a .247 clip on the season.

With her 35-assist performance against NKU, Kilner became the sixth Viking all-time to eclipse the 2,900 career assist mark, and enters the week with 2,925 career helpers. Kilner currently ranks sixth in the CSU Career Record Book with her 2,925 career assists, while she ranks second among Horizon League players averaging 10.75 assists per set this year.

Grega led the Viking defense during the two wins last weekend, averaging 5.83 digs per set. The junior libero notched 17 digs against Valparaiso and 18 against Northern Kentucky, as the Vikings held their opponents to a .076 hitting percentage on the weekend.

For the season, Grega is averaging 3.73 digs per set, while she ranks third in the Horizon League averaging 4.43 digs per set in league matches only. She has tallied double-digit digs in 18 matches this year, including a career-high 24-dig effort against Oakland in league opener.
