Cleveland State Track & Field Opens Shamrock Invite With 10,000 Run

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cleveland State track and field team opened the Shamrock Invitational Thursday evening, with the trio of Kiannah Sarver, Hannah Korte and Ariana Coats competing in the 10,000 Meter Run.

"Today was a great start to our outdoor season with Kiannah, Hannah and Ariana representing CSU in the 10k," head coach Jason Hudson said. "All three were mentally locked in for all 25 laps, and I'm proud of their efforts. We will look to continue this momentum tomorrow as we get our outdoor season started."

Sarver paced the Vikings with a time of 40:09.51 in the 10,000 to finish ninth overall. Korte was the second Viking to cross the finish line, placing 11th overall with a time of 40:37.07, while Coats finished 12th with a time of 40:55.12.

Thursday's 10k marked the first of her career for Korte, while Coats notched a personal-best in the event.

The Vikings will continue action at the Shamrock Invitational tomorrow, with track and field events beginning at 10:30 a.m.
