Cleveland State’s Korte & Smith Named To #HLTF Outdoor All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team Thursday afternoon, with the Cleveland State duo of Hannah Korte and Margaret Smith earning a spot on the 20-member team.

Korte and Smith were also named to the Indoor All-Academic Team earlier this season, giving Korte four all-academic accolades on her career and Smith two career all-academic honors.

Earlier this month, Smith graduated Summa Cum Laude from the CSU Honors College with a degree in health science/pre-occupational therapy, carrying a 3.91 cumulative GPA throughout her undergraduate career. Smith has been an annual member of the CSU Dean's List and President's List, and most recently posted a perfect 4.0 during the spring 2022 semester.

During the outdoor campaign Smith was Cleveland State's top mid-distance runner, posting five top-15 finishes in the 800 Meter Run, while also picking up a win in the 400 Meter Dash at the Shamrock Invite. In addition, Smith was a member of Cleveland State's 4x400 relay team that picked up points at the #HLTF Outdoor Championships.

Korte currently owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Korte, who is a member of the CSU Honors College, has earned a spot on the Cleveland State Dean's List every semester she has been eligible, and finished the spring 2022 semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

On the track, Korte is part of Cleveland State's distance squad, posting career-best times in the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 Meter Run events this season. At the #HLTF Outdoor Championships Korte represented the Vikings in the 5,000 Meter Run.
