Cleveland State Track & Field Wraps Up Action At Jesse Owens Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team wrapped up action at the Jesse Owens Invitational Saturday, finishing off a weekend of strong performances and season-best times.

"This was a great weekend for us, we finally had track weather to compete in and the results showed," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We had strong performances from everyone this weekend – with multiple season-best times – while Margaret ran one of the best 800 races in program history. This meet definitely put us in a good position as we move closer to the Horizon League Championship next month."

Cleveland State had four representatives in the 800 Meter Run on Saturday, paced by Margaret Smith who posted a time of 2:18.39 – one of the fastest times in program history and a personal-best for the junior. Also running the 800 for the Vikings were Madelynn Madison (2:24.83), Anna Umlauf (2:35.67) and Savannah Shaver (2:39.49).

Dynesty Ervin posted Cleveland State's top individual finish on Saturday, notching a 17th place finish in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 59.45. Ervin's time marked the second fastest time in program history.
