AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team wrapped up action at the Akron Invitational Saturday, recording three top-10 finishes.
"The meet this weekend gave us some solid performances and also let us know that there is still some areas we need to work on as we prepare for the Horizon League meet," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Dynesty and Margaret continue to lead the way for the team, and it was great to see Dynesty record a personal-best in the 400 Meter Dash before turning around with short rest to be a crucial part of our 4x400 Meter Relay."
Cleveland State's best finish on the day came from Dynesty Ervin in the 400 Meter Dash, as she placed second with a career-best time of 59.32. Ervin also recorded Cleveland State's highest finish in the 200 Meter Dash, placing 12th overall with a time of 26.28.
Margaret Smith recorded the other top-10 individual finish on the day, as she placed eighth in the 800 Meter Run with a season-best time of 2:21.00.
The Vikings also notched a top-10 finish in the 4x400 Meter Relay, as the quartet of Ervin, Sara Timberlake, Margaret Smith, and Savannah Shaver finished sixth in a time of 4:17.30.
In field events, the Vikings competed in the Shot Put for the first time this season, with Allison Pankow leading the way with a mark of 7.16.
The Vikings will continue the indoor campaign next weekend, participating in the Doug Raymond Invite on Saturday, February 12.
