Cleveland State Track & Field Opens 2021-22 Indoor Campaign At YSU Ice Breaker

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team opened up its 2021-22 indoor campaign Friday, taking part in the YSU Ice Breaker.

"Today was a good start to our indoor campaign, and even though we only had a small crew competing, it gives me a look at where we will be once we get the full team in action come January," head coach Jason Hudson said. "After today's races, I'm very excited for the rest of the season, and the team can't wait to get back to work."

Dynesty Ervin posted Cleveland State's top individual finish, placing 11th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 59.75. Ervin also ran in the 60 Meter Dash prelims, posting a time of 7.93 to mark a collegiate personal-best.

Allison Pankow also ran in two individual races for the Vikings on Friday – competing in the 200 Meter Dash (28.15) and the 400 Meter Dash (65.31).

Cleveland State had two participants in the 800 Meter Run, as Kayla Zdanowicz was just shy of setting her collegiate personal-best with a time of 2:35.21, and Sara Timberlake recorded a time of 2:39.85.

The Vikings also placed 11th in the 4x400 Meter Relay, with the quartet of Ervin, Pankow, Timberlake, and Zdanowicz posting a time of 4:16.89.

The Vikings will now have some time off from competition, returning to action at the Marshall Women's Classic on Saturday, January 15.
