Cleveland State’s Brandt Earns Spot On #HLTF Outdoor All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon, with Cleveland State senior Anna Brandt earning a spot on the 15-member team.

Last month, Brandt graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in exercise science at the 2021 Cleveland State Spring Commencement. Carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her collegiate career, Brandt was named the 2021 Spring Valedictorian for the College of Education & Human Services, while she also earned the CSU Athletics President's Award for the graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA.

This marks Brandt's seventh time being named to an all-academic team, earning two cross country honors and four track & field nominations during her time as a Viking.

During the 2021 outdoor campaign, Brandt became Cleveland State's first-ever #HLTF individual event winner, as she won the 800 Meter Run at the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Championships. Brandt posted a time of 2:14.00 in the finals to earn First Team All-League honors, and mark her fourth top-five finish of the season.

Brandt finished her career as the CSU record holder in the 400 Hurdles, 800 Meter Run and 1500 Meter Run, while she was also part of the record setting 4x400 Meter Relay team. Brandt was a two-time outdoor All-Horizon League honoree, and posted nine top-five finishes throughout three outdoor campaigns.
