Korte & Nemeth Open #HLTF Indoor Championship With 5000 Meter Run

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Cleveland State track and field team opened up the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Championships Friday, with Hannah Korte and Emily Nemeth competing in the 5000 Meter Run.

"This was a great run today by both Hannah and Emily, I'm very proud of how they competed in today's race," head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach Jason Hudson said. "The toughest part of a 5000 meter race is the middle portion, and Hannah and Emily were both able to stay focused and perform well through the middle, which allowed them both to finish with excellent times."

Korte paced the duo with a time of 18:40.40, which marked a season-best for the sophomore, while it was also a season-best for the team.

Nemeth crossed the finish line in 19:30.76, marking a three-minute season-best for the sophomore and a lifetime personal-best.

Action at the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Championships continues tomorrow, with the Vikings competing in the 60, 400 and 800 Prelims and Shot Put event.
