Vikings Record Five Podium Finishes On Day Two Of #HLTF Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team wrapped up action at the 2020 Horizon League Indoor Championships Sunday, finishing seventh overall and posting five podium finishes on the second day of competition.

Cleveland State's top finish came in the 4x400 Meter Relay, as the Viking quartet placed second overall with a time of 3:52.46. CSU's time marked a program record by more than four seconds, while they were less than two seconds shy of Sunday's championship time. For the second place finish, the quartet of Mijah Collier, Dyamond Myers, Dynesty Ervin, and Anna Brandt earned All-League Second Team honors.

Anna Brandt recorded a pair of third place finishes Sunday, competing in the 800 Meter and Mile run. After advancing to the championship race in the 800 Meter Run yesterday, Brandt crossed the finish line in a time of 2:15.41 in the finals. In the mile, Brandt posted a time of 5:07.34.

Brandt earned All-League honorable mention in both events.

Monica Johnson represented the Vikings in sprint events on Sunday, recording a third place finish in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.76. Johnson, who earned a spot in the championship race after qualifying yesterday, recorded a personal-best with her third place showing, and earned All-League honorable mention honors.

Cleveland State's final podium finish came in the Shot Put, as Kamryn Sharer recorded a seventh place finish. Sharer had a personal-best mark of 12.32, which also marked a program record in the event.

The Vikings will now be idle until the outdoor season, which will kickoff at the 49er Classic on March 20-21.
