Korte Places Fifth In 5,000 Meter Run At Spire Invitational

GENEVA, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team opened competition at the Spire Invitational Friday, with freshman Hannah Korte representing the Vikings in the 5,000 Meter Run.

Korte crossed the finish line with a time of 18:17.40 to place fifth overall in her first 5K on the indoor track.

"Hannah ran a great race today, especially since it was her first time running a 5K race on the track," head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach Jason Hudson said. "She looked very strong throughout the entire race, and this performance will give her loads of confidence as the season progresses."

Korte's time at the Spire Invitational ranks fourth in the CSU Record Book, while it also ranks her third among Horizon League performances so far this season.

Cleveland State will continue action at the Spire Invitational tomorrow, with track events slated to begin at 9:00 a.m. and field events set for a 10:00 a.m. start.
