Vikings Have Strong Showing At YSU Collegiate Invite

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team continued its indoor slate Friday, posting strong finishes at the YSU Collegiate Invitational.

Monica Johnson recorded Cleveland State's best finish in the sprint events Friday, posting a fifth place finish in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 9.17. Azsah Bradley posted a top-15 finish in the 200 Meter Dash for the Vikings, placing 11th with a time of 25.83.

In distance events, Anna Brandt paced the Vikings, finishing second in the 500 Meter Run and fifth in the Mile Run. Brandt posted a program record time of 1:18.81 in the 500, while she crossed the finish line in a time of 5:07.49 in the Mile.

Cleveland State had a trio of other top-10 finishes in the 500 Meter Run, with Haley Rozeski finishing sixth, Olivia Hammons placing seventh and Deanna Swinerton finishing ninth.

The Vikings were represented in the Pole Vault and Shot Put during field events on Friday, with Kaelin Stahl finishing 14th in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.22, and Kamryn Sharer finishing 27th in the Shot Put with a mark of 10.79.

A handful of Vikings were competing for their first time this season, including the newcomer duo of Zoe Lexovsky (Mile, 5:50.36) and Sharer.

Cleveland State will return to action at the Spire Invitational next weekend, with competition taking place on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
