Track & Field Records Four First Place Finishes At CWRU Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team had a successful day at the CWRU Invitational Saturday, as the Vikings recorded four first place finishes and four second place finishes. 

Sprints
The Vikings picked up wins in both the 100 Meter Hurdles and 100 Meter Dash events Saturday, as Monica Johnson (15.00) won the 100H and Tylar Mixon (12.53) won the 100. The Vikings also finished second (Monica Johnson, 12.78), third (Hannah Gaskins, 12.99) and fourth (Caprece Conrad, 13.00) in the 100 Meter Dash, while Gaskins also finished third in the 100H (15.93).

Anna Brandt recorded a second place finish in the 400 Meter Dash after crossing the finish line in a time of 1:00.59, while Caprece Conrad recorded a time of 27.17 in the 200 Meter Dash to finish third.

Distance
The Vikings recorded a pair of second place finishes in the distance events Saturday, as Lily Michael placed second in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase (12:49.33), and Jessica Finley crossed the 5000 Meter Run finish line in 19:00.86 to place second.

In the 800 Meter Run, Korrin Spurlock placed seventh overall with a time of 2:28.30, while Graicen Riley also finished seventh in the 1500 Meter Run after finishing in 5:13.18.

Field
Cleveland State's best finish in the field events came in the Javelin, as Julianne Dorothal won the event with a mark of 31.29, while Hannah Gaskins finished second with a mark of 29.43.

Monica Johnson placed third overall in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.87, while Dorothal also placed sixth in the Shot Put with a mark of 10.96.

Relays
The quartet of Adelle Tannous, Deanna Swinerton, Korrin Spurlock, and Caprece Conrad won the 4x400 Meter Relay for the Vikings, finishing in a time of 4:09.65. The Vikings also recorded a third place finish in the 4x100 Meter Relay, as Brooke Armbruster, Caprece Conrad, Julianne Dorothal, and De'Vine Shelton finished in a time of 52.46.
