Butterbaugh Places 7th In 3,000 Meter Run At YSU National Invitational

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team wrapped up action at its first meet of the 2017 season Saturday, rounding out action at the Youngstown National Invitational.

Cleveland State's best performance of the day came from Samantha Butterbaugh in the 3000 Meter Run, as she finished seventh overall with a time of 10:29.93. Karen Barrientos finished right behind Butterbaugh, placing 10th in a time of 10:37.37.

The Vikings had three runners in the 800 Meter Run Saturday, led by Jessica Finley who placed 47th in a time of 2:36.88. Andrea Wardeiner (2:38.01) and Anna Beasley (2:41.77) also competed in the 800 Meter Run for the Vikings.

Cleveland State also competed in the 200 Meter Dash, with Bridget Smik (28.33) and Danielle Yasenchack (29.00) participating.

In the day's relay event – the 4x400 Meter Relay – the Cleveland State 'A' team of Alexandria Derkacs, Smik, Yasenchack, and Olivia Hammons finished 19th with a time of 4:15.47.

The Vikings will have a week off from competition, returning to the track at the Kent State Tuneup on Saturday, February 18.
