CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State women's tennis team (0-4, 0-2 Horizon League) suffered at 6-1 setback Sunday against UW-Green Bay (1-2, 1-1 Horizon League) at the Malaga Tennis Center. Playing with only five people, the Vikings were forced to forfeit two matches.
Sophomore Irina Strembitsky teamed with senior Fatima Martin to post an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. The Phoenix was victorious at No. 2 and claimed the doubles point with CSU's forfeit at No. 3.
In singles play, Strembitsky defeated Lianna Dorn, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1, but UWGB claimed the rest of the matches to earn the victory. With her win, Strembitsky improved to 12-0 in two seasons playing at No. 1 singles. The three games Dorn won were the first Strembitsky has lost in four matches this fall.
The Vikings are in action again on Oct. 13 when they host IPFW at the Malaga Tennis Center at noon.
