Contact: Jessica GerichVALPARAISO, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's tennis swept the competition on Saturday at Valparaiso, putting the team at 16-6 overall and 5-2 against Horizon League opponents.
The women won all three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point and followed with six singles match victories. Jackie Tabb won her first match at No. 1 singles, defeating Kim Sajevic 6-2, 6-4. Senior Jenn Myers won her fifth consecutive singles match, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Molly Keifer at No. 2 singles, while freshman Sanda Bjelan won her sixth straight at No. 3 singles. Bjelan defeated Julie Wingstrom 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons defeated Christine Antrobus 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, stretching her win streak to 7 consecutive matches, while classmate Denisa Muntean won 6-1, 6-0 over Laura Lawson at No. 5 singles. Senior Lindsay Sellers defeated Jackie O'Reilly 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
"With Melissa out everyone had to step up in the lineup," senior Morgan Ungerott said. "We took care of business to pick up a victory."
The Vikings face UIC on Sunday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. to conclude its regular season.
