CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State women's tennis team took five of the six singles matches on their way to picking up a 5-2 win over UW-Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon at the River Oaks Racquet Club in Rocky River, Ohio. The Vikings move to 4-7 on the season, and 1-1 in the Horizon League, while UW-Milwaukee falls to 1-6, 0-3 in the league.

"The best thing about today was that nobody got down after we lost the doubles point," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "All season long, we've been waiting for our seniors to step up and win a big match, and it was just a matter of time. We've already achieved two of our goals, moving up the conference and doubling our win total, and we're not even halfway through the season."

After losing two of the three doubles matches, the Vikings rallied, led by Sarah Galon's quick win at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Rebekah Bicksler had the next win, picking up a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Morgan Ungerott then rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, before Amanda Cerny clinched the match with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Paulina Reyes picked up an additional win at No. 3 singles, winning 6-4, 5-7, 1-0(10-8).

"It was good to see Sarah pick up a good win today, she quickly took care of business, and Morgan played well after getting down early, and came back to win pretty easily," Etzkin said. "Then, we expect our seniors to win matches like this, so it was awesome to see Cerny get the clinching point."

The Vikings return to the courts next weekend with three matches in Dayton. Cleveland State will take on Dayton on Friday, March 5, before facing UIC the following day. The Vikings wrap up the road swing on Sunday, March 7, with another Horizon League battle against Wright State.
